Terrorist attacks on 4 police stations in Lakki Marwat, Bannu repelled




There have been a number of coordinated terrorist attacks on law enforcement agencies in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, particularly in the districts of Lakki Marwat and Bannu. Despite these challenges, the resilience and prompt response of the police and local communities have been instrumental in thwarting these assaults.

 Coordinated Assaults on Security Establishments and Police Stations In the Landhi Jalandhar area of the Bannu district, on December 7, 2024, militants carried out a multi-pronged attack on a police post along the Peshawar-Karachi Highway. The assailants employed both light and heavy weaponry in an attempt to breach the police building. Hearing the commotion, locals gathered to support the police and made announcements over mosque speakers. The ensuing exchange of fire lasted over an hour, resulting in the injury of a police official named Asifullah. The attackers were forced to retreat as a result of the police and armed villagers working together. Shortly thereafter, terrorists attempted another assault on a Frontier Constabulary (FC) installation in the Naizam Bazaar area.  On September 28, 2023, two Lakki Marwat city police stations and the district jail were the targets of simultaneous attacks. In their attempt to break into these facilities, the attackers used both light and heavy weapons. However, the police, having detected the militants' movements through thermal security cameras, were on high alert and responded swiftly.
